Lifescapes

A couple of showers in Kabini have kept all the biggies in hiding. So I’ve resorted to taking snapshots of the little crawly creatures who love lazing in the soggy soil.

Lady Bug (Also known as Lady bird)

While I sat in the portico of my room soaking up the sounds and scents of the after shower earth, I came across these beautiful lady bugs. Zooming in on them, I realized they were busy preparing for future generations! Nonetheless, their colour shone so richly amidst the greenery, I couldn’t help but capture their intimate moments on film. Even in the wild, I presume, the romance of a pristine drizzle is irresistible.

In search of some more pictures, I decided to take a walk around the resort. The sun’s rays were scantily breaking through the clouds. Passing by a stump on the ground, I saw this fly who was trying his best to soak up whatever little of the sun that was peering through the dull sky.

Rat Snakes in courtship

Heading towards the forest, in the midst of flowering shrubs, I witnessed the entire sequence of two rat snakes involved in courtship. Unlike the lady bugs, they sensed my presence and didn’t quite like my company. I decided to leave them alone and headed back to the resort.

The evening dusk began to set in and while I passed the Kabini River I witnessed the most amazing sunset ever. Enriching the experience further, were the silhouetted guests enjoying the sunset by the banks of the river.
